# Host

A **Host** is a user or organization that creates and manages an [Environment](/aphid-ai-docs/glossary/environment.md) within the Aphid Network. Hosts define the scope of work, rules, and terms under which users and [Clones](/aphid-ai-docs/glossary/clone.md) can work within their Environments.

#### What Hosts Control

Hosts configure several aspects of their Environment:

* **Access** - Whether an Environment is public, private (password or invitation only), or temporary (open for a set date range, minimum 72 hours).
* **Staking Requirements** - The amount and duration of [$BION](/aphid-ai-docs/glossary/bion-token.md) users must stake to access the Environment.
* **Fees** - Hosts may add a time- and processing-power-based $BION fee, a percentage royalty on revenue earned by users in their Environment, and/or a flat monthly $BION fee.

#### Becoming a Host

Hosts range from individual users opening a specialized workspace to businesses and platforms integrating Clones into their own products.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://aphid-ai.gitbook.io/aphid-ai-docs/glossary/host.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
